led headlights

Looking for led headlights, doing a lot of night time driving, can i replace old bulbs with led bulbs or do you have to buy the whole headlight capsule, trying to find out what is out there, 2021 jayco seneca

Conversion kits are the best method because if you were to add off-road lightbars on the roof, or hood... by Pennsylvania Law you must cover them up while on the highway which is not much value.

Here is a website that describes the special Pennsylvania laws you'll want to know about as well as a variety of kits they offer.

Specifically in Pennsylvania: Headlamps are to be white and the total candlepower for headlights and auxiliary lights must not exceed 150,000.

Installed LED bulbs in my 2017 Greyhawk which is Ford based. Fairly easy job, nice results. I would search for bulbs to see if they are replaceable for your chassis type.

I agree the standard lights are not very bright. So far I have just replaced the bulbs with the LED versions of the high and low beams. Sitting in my driveway they have a much higher color temperature and are much brighter. The bulbs are standard replaceable High and low beams.

I replaced the bulbs with LED's, pretty reasonably priced via amazon - done a few years ago - much, much better than stock, and I can see fine in nighttime driving.

I've read that others have even better results replacing the entire headlight assemblies with the LED versions. A but pricey, but they seem to be very happy.

Personally, I'd try just the bulbs first and see how satisfied you are for the price difference.

You can add different bulbs but they will never have the correct projection and cutoff like housings that are made for led lights. They do help, but not always legal and you better carry proof of they are DOT approved. many states are cracking down on aftermarket headlights that are not DOT approved, I have a set in my Jeep and have been pulled over twice now, I carry the certificate that came with them for proof. The best but most expensive is the OEM Freightliner drop in LED lights with housings.

To the original posted, if you do a search her for LED Headlights, there are many threads about them.

LED lighting

I used replacement lighting from BTS lighting. LED light assemblies the bolt right in. Couldn't be happier. Not cheap but worth it.

It’s tricky to get to the headlights to replace them with LED LIGHTS. Our son did it for us. Had to get to them from underneath but they do make them for the greyhawk. If I remember correctly we bought good ones for our coach for around 100.00 can’t remember if that was each or for two. But it really helps to see in the dark. Good luck.

It’s pretty simple on the Freightliner Super C, just flip the hood up and there they are

Well the dealer you called were just to lazy to look them up. Here are the part numbers for the OEM Freightliner/Trucklite LED headlight assemblies. These are a complete direct, plug n play replacement and are the best out there. Do not buy them through a Freightliner dealer as you will pay MSRP on them, there are many truck resellers that carry them, just make sure they are made by Freightliner/Trucklite. Many places sell take offs or blems that most people say they can’t find bt a slight scratch on the lens.

The cab, hood and doors are the sam on the M2 & S2 so any accessory for the M2 fits the S2.

Enforcement is likely because there are tons of cheap LED bulbs available on the internet that are not/cannot be aimed properly and that blind other drivers. There are some very good videos available online that explain what to look for in a good bulb.

The legitimate sources of bulbs (my favorite is Diode Dynamics) no longer sell them for headlight purposes (but if you know the bulb type and say it's for foglight you are okay to purchase for that purpose).

If you have bulbs from China with a DOT certification you can bet it is faked. It is near impossible to have an aftermarket LED bulb certified apparently.
