Low DC Voltage fridge error code - Seneca

Hello All,

Since new, July 2016, my Seneca Norcold has displayed the "low dc voltage" code when it is on propane mode. Fridge seems to operate OK, except for "wet " ice cubes, soft ice cream, the usual for RV fridges.

My dealer has attempted five times to fix, they stick their head in the sand and give the coach back to me with the problem unsolved. I thought I understood the service writer to say that Jayco had a fix for the problem involving running heavier wiring, but my dealer still can't figure it out??

Anyone out there heard of this or maybe have the same problem?

Thanks readers,

Steve

thanks again for your reply. Did your dealer do the repair or did you DIY.

I had the same problem about a year ago. Dealer replaced a wire and solved the problem. Norecold and Jayco are aware of this issue. Many have had the same problem. If you can't find it call Jayco and they can help. Good luck

Low VDC - solved

We had the same error on our 2016 precept 29UR - Jayco had us connect the wire from the fridge to another fuse on the panel - worked great - never had the problem again.

Seems like replacing the wire is the going theory. This should be a simple enough DIY. If you have a good service department and can live without your camper for a while, then insist they replace it with a heavier gauge wire. If it were me, I'd do it myself...but that's because I'm handy, know how to work around electricity (and not get shocked), and have all the necessary tools and equipment....and I don't trust service department personnel to do the job right.

Had the same issue, Jayco had CW replace the 12v power wire to the fridge with a dedicated circuit. Done on warranty.

Low dc voltage problem

I have the same problem on my 2018 29MV. My Buddy's 29MV same problem. Is there an update to this? There should be a recall or something. My warranty company does not want to cover this. As an engineer this was easy to determine. Wire gauge is to small for these refrigerators.

Had the same issue on my coach and put it on my list of warranty fixes when I brought it to Middlebury. According to the service work order the cause was listed as “.....other components on same circuit pulling amperage from refer.” The fix was to run new wire from fuse location #2 to the fridge. No problem since.
