M2 Seneca countertops (maybe other models)

So I have started to notice little micro scratches on my tabletop and countertop. More than likely from plates, mugs and other things getting slide around on them. Has anyone else noticed this? Do you guys know a cheap and easy way to remove them?

We had the same countertops in our 2011 fifth wheel as are in our 2015 Seneca. I about had a melt down when we were doing our initial load of the fifth wheel, and the box of dishes (a cardboard box) put a huge scratch in our new countertops... apparently, that's completely normal. Grrr...

We bought our Seneca used, so it arrived with 2 years of someone else scratching up the counters, and they did some doozies! But, I'm over it now. Scratches are just proof that the RV is being used and enjoyed, now.

If I recall, you have to use varying grits of sand paper to buff out the scratches, then wax and polish... and then the glossy finish will last only until you use the counter again.

I don't know who picked this material for RV's, but it was a terrible decision. I'd take a nice, hardy laminate any day over this soft scratchy solid surface crap.

It should be Hi Macs solid surface.

REPAIRING SCRATCHES
For removing superficial scratches, rub in a circular motion with a wet #7448 Scotch Brite buffing pad until the scratches are removed. Clean thoroughly with soap and water and let dry.

Deep scratches can be removed by carefully sanding lightly with 120 grit sandpaper followed by 220 and 320-grit sandpaper. Then rub the surface with a wet #7448 Scotch Brite pad in a circular motion to restore the finish. For added protection, or if any additional luster is desired, after the surface is dry, apply a non-wax polish cleaner or other recommended surface dressing and wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Wipe dry using another clean cloth.

solid surface

Yes, the #7448 pads work very well. We have solid surface in our Seneca and house kitchen as well. Starting with #120 grit sandpaper has seemed extremely coarse, so I use #360 wet or dry paper with water and go finer from there. Automotive scratch removers have a wax and leave an uneven finish.

My new Seneca is also showing the scratches which is aggravating. My last camper has a real pretty and durable laminate on top of what I assume to be particle board. All was well until a slight water leak caused the particle board to swell under the laminate.

I don't like the scratches but I do like not having to worry about water damage of the counter tops.

Looks like counter-top/table-top polishing will have to be added to the recurring maintenance list But I fully agree with Mark...I will take this composite material any day over laminate so I don't have to worry about water damage.

After a particularly bumpy ride I had a coffee cup bounce on the counter top. Cup was fine but the counter now has a chip in it. Counter material is way too soft.
