More info

So Saturday picked my unit out storage. Let it warm up for about 30 minutes, on the way home after about 5 miles on the highway the check engine light came on. So dropped it off at Freightliner. Just got the call the DEF pipe froze and broke off. They said they have seen this before and there is actually a two piece update to prevent this from happening again. So for all of us who see the freezing temperatures might want to get Freightliner to look into this, hope this helps to prevent it from happening to someone else.

Do you know what the service bulletin number is? It should be on your service invoice.
Ours goes in for PM in a few weeks - this should be on our list !!!

When I pick my unit up on Tuesday I will post as much info as I can from the repair invoice part numbers, engine code and any service bulletin numbers, I was told it would all be covered under warranty.

Here is the repair work order

Just picked her up and this is the work order, glad they could do it before my trip to the factory on the 20th. Every thing was covered by warranty. The tech said the hose and fittings were bigger on the new pieces. Might be the next thing for those of us that see freezing temps might have to get done, hope this helps.

On a side note, do not let your RV idle for 30 minutes and "warm it up."

Your new emissions equipment traps the soot/garbage that comes out. Idle is not a particularly efficient point for the engine to run. About 10-20 seconds, that's it. Then drive it. Driving it around helps a lot more than letting it sit and idle.

Waaaaaaay back in the day it used to be better to let diesel trucks idle rather than turn it off. Not true anymore....and in fact, the opposite. Diesel engines are more efficient and take longer to heat up in cooler temperatures. At low temperatures, the engine produces significantly more soot/emissions, which the particulate filter will trap. Idle it long enough and the pressure across your particulate filter will build and set off a program to burn it off and "regenerate."
