On mounting a flag,
I do not have a ladder and do not want one, but have a flag holder the mounts to the ladder I had on my other MH, has anyone mounted a verticle bar on the back to mount a flag poll to,

This has worked for years even in strong winds.

You have a few options. One, they make a suction cup mount that sticks to the side of the rig. Second, there is the hitch mount, like shown above. Third, there's a metal plate that you drive on which holds the mount under the tire. So, there are a bunch of different choices if there's no ladder.

And do you take the whole mast down at night, or when the weather gets bad?

Mine just lifts out of the pole socket, so if it's going to be windy, I take take the whole pole right down.

It telescopes down to about 3-1/2 feet long or so.
It's 16 feet when extended. Here's the kit:

Good info here....I was looking into the rear 2" hitch receiver version with telescoping pole...mount on back of my 5th wheel as we don't really use that rear hitch.
Anyone have experience with that hitch mount flag pole?

On our Seneca I wanted something that kept the pole away from the body so I added a 1 1/4" receiver up front i a bumper opening, works great and keeps the pole away from everything.

Agree... the hitch mount on the rear does not give a lot of clearance if there is a big wind.. That is why I opted to mount it on the trailer. 95% of the time our trailer is in our campsite - it works for us.

I copied one of the commercial ones you can buy that goes under a tire - except I put it under the tongue jack of my trailer. I took a piece of flat steel and welded some round pipe to it. My flag pole slides right in. I use some additional strapping for support on very windy days...

I use a 4x4 with a mount that is put in one end of the rear bumper. If it gets bad weather I just pull the flag and pole. Attachment 62112
