Removing carpet that the slide retracts on..

We have a Seneca 37K 2019 Has anyone removed the carpet that the slide covers when retracted? The 2020 versions do not have that carpet. Makes everything seem bigger as well as more even walking area. I know they upgraded the flooring but using a slide protector should fix the problem with the lesser flooring.

The question is what does the original flooring look like under there. Are the holes left by the carpet install really bad? Could you just use some filler to smooth out the area? I would rather have more flat walking area.

The edge of the carpet gets so dirty as it is right in the walk area especially when using the counter extension on the kitchen counter. Would love to know if anyone has done this.

Good question, I'm interested even though I'm a travel trailer owner. Our dogs have done some damage to our carpet. We plan to replace it when the two oldest ladies (17 years old!) pass away.

soon we are going to have to remove our carpet too, it was bad when we bought it used,, what I would like to know what you use to put over the area that the carpet covers now,, It sticks up when the slide is in, and if you put something rigid on there it would seem to break if you step on it,, any pictures of what y'all have done when replaced with vinyl
