Roof leak on my Seneca

We were at the Casino for 4 days and it rained non stop for 2 and 1/2 of those days.
I noticed a leak in the ceiling against the wall at the left of the entrance door. It was a steady drip so I removed the wood trim piece above the door so that I could let it dry out. Any ideas where the leak is coming in at. Could it be where the overhead sleeper is attached to the main house? Also what caulk would you guys recommend on the roof to repair the leak?

Ours had a leak in the same area... at the seam of the front cap and the one-piece fiberglass roof.

I went up with some Dicor self leveling lap sealant and filled the cracks in the old sealant.

Cover it with Eternabond Tape and forget it for 20 yrs.

Seems you have it figured out. Another reminder to us all to perform an annual roof penetration seal inspection. Just had ours done on our 2016 and it needed two tubes of sealant applied.

Consider checking the sealer around the cab over marker lights. We noticed water in the overhead lights above the cab and found the seals of the marker lights very distorted and dry rotten (not even two years old).

I’ve noticed the same thing, condensation under the lenses. Pulled the screw and lens off and the foam gasket is totally distorted. Looks like from the heat of the sun on that section of the black front cap. Wondering now if I should try and make up some new gaskets or just use some sealer on the lens, could be tough trying to address burnt out bulbs with sealer on the lens though. Hmmmm?

Hi Rick we have the same rig. We once had a drip come down the wall from the seam that goes across the top of the ceiling. This is where the front cap is attached to the rest of the camper. So that leak could come from anywhere across the top. I was wondering if the stuff we see on tv called flex seal could work. This only happened once in a very heavy rain storm that we noticed.

Were you able to find a color that matches or did you just use white?

Just used the White... it is hard to notice when you look up at the roof when standing on the ground, but I guess I could paint it or something if it annoyed me that much...

Whporwill, I used that Eternabond Tape and that stuff is awesome. I put over the front cap and the rear cap seams where they connect to the roof. Problem solved no more leaks and I know that it will last a long time.

Hi whporwil. We had a similar leak during a driving rain storm Florida is well known for. Has since been sealed roofside during our annual roof inspection. I have no experience with FlexSeal, but it should work based on their infomercials. I carry a big roll of Eternabond tape for such repairs.
