Seneca 37fs Slide Seals

Hi everyone,

Just picked up our first motorhome! It’s a 2014 Seneca 37fs. I’m going through it fixing little things here and there and I’m concerned with how the bunk slide closes. The top of the slide sits nice and tight on the exterior but the bottom isn’t sealing completely. Can I adjust something to make it close more evenly? No sign of water intrusion but I’m concerned about driving through a rain storm.

Also on the living room slide the exterior seal needs to be replaced. Can this be ordered from a Jayco dealer or is it more of a universal part I can pick up locally?

Thanks!

The slide seals are generally universal parts that can be picked up at a local RV dealer. There are a number of different types so you should at least take a picture of the seal and make sure you have a picture of the end of the seal so you know the profile. It took three attempts before Thor sent me the correct bulb seal (under warranty) for the inside of my Challenger's living area slide.

If you know the size and profile of the seal you might be able to order it on line.

I was waiting till I got this photo to respond. This shows the adjustment screw ( parallel to the slide rail) for how far the slide mechanism will close. To increase the amount of closure back this bolt out. A few things to think about first. Make very small adjustments. If you back it off too far there could be excessive pressure on the picture frame and you could cause damage to the face unit. If both the front and back are out the same amount be sure to adjust both screws the same amount. Before doing anything use a permanent marker to note the location of the starting position of the bolt. Many people use nail polish.

Based on the age of your unit you might want to replace the seal first as it is possible that this has just compressed over time and this causing the variance. Once it is replaced you can decide if you want to make the adjustment. Click image for larger version

awesome thank you. I’ll check the seal condition first but it is equal front and back so a little adjustment should be helpful.

Seneca 37fs slideout problem again

We have a 2018 37FS and we are presently waiting on the third warranty repair of the rear slide. We were told about the timing issue with the schwintek system, but our problem has not been side to side. It has been top returning before bottom. Gears skipping teeth in the rack. Rack replaced in Yuma April 2019, slide box removed at Jayco in July 2019 because of floor damage done by the slide room gouging it while coming in at angle and realigned again in College Station, TX Jan 2020. Then after arriving at lake Wales, Fl 3 weeks ago the slide did it again. Bottom is now out 3 inches and top in. The next try at repair is to replace the rack again and add more rollers to the bottom side, instead of 3 they are going to try 5 for support.
Is your slide going in and out smoothly.

Slide goes in smooth. No gear noises or anything I’d consider unusual. Just a gap at the bottom about 5/8” and tight on top.

Sorry to hear about your issues with the bedroom slide. We have not had any issues with the swintek at all. That is the one piece of equipment that I am concerned about failure on. The other two slides are fairly easy to manually move without needing a ladder. The swintek you have to have a ladder to get up to the motor and then get a bunch of people to push it in.

I wonder if there is something wrong with your opening or the squareness of the the slide. Or do they just think it is the heavy weight of the slide?

Best of wishes for a successful resolution to your issues.

Finally looked under the slide and it doesn’t have the adjustment like the living room slide has. I guess I’ll try replacing the seal and see if it helps. I looked around but couldn’t find another adjustment.

That is swintek slide. There is a different adjustment process for those. I will look it up tomorrow.. I thought this was the main drivers side slide.

Seneca 37fs slideout problem again fixed

Greetings. We are back in the Seneca with the rear slide working. Under the slide was built with 3 four inch rollers, all the time we have owned it I have noticed the first roller had no contact with the bottom of the slide. I told the purchasing dealer, Jayco, and each of the repair shops that worked on it. RVForce here in Winter Haven, FL is the only repair shop that listened to that and requested more rollers. It now has 5 4" rollers for more support, which I hope will keep the slide supported. This slide box is now on its 3rd lippert rack and motors. We have less then 4 months left on the warranty to see if it will keep working.
