Finally got my slide repaired (8 months since the sheet metal buckled). Inspected and rejected the fix yesterday. The dealer called Jayco and they decided to install a thicker transition between the floor and the sheet metal ramps. The slide is now smoother and quieter when extending and retracting.

I took the rig from the RV dealer to the Freightliner dealer to have them determine the faults behind the MIL and ABS lights and have them do a PM service before the summer travel. When I get it back from Freightliner I’ll post a pic of the transition strip Jayco had the dealer install.

good evening Brian,

How many of these did you need for your long slide? I have a 37k as well.

Thanks,
Bob

So do I understand this correctly:
[LIST]
The sheet metal ramp came undone from the top while extending?
The solution was a piece of carpet transition cut to length to cap off the sheet metal?
It took 8 months?

Thanks

The sheet metal buckled while extending. In the pic the sheet metal is doubled over.

The eight months was the dealer’s incompetence on display.

The rest of the story

This was not supply chain.

First, the dealer was notified via email on July 20 that we had a slide issue while we were in Wyoming. They refused to look at the slide until September 30 even though part of their sales program is priority service for camping essential items (in writing) which includes slides. This is the basis of our complaint to the state AG.

Second, even after discussions between the dealer and Jayco/Entegra ( documented on the Service order emailed to me) the dealer failed to submit the authorization requests and parts requisitions to Jayco. Parts were not ordered until I requested the PO numbers on Dec 18 after I talked to Entegra. At that time only the sheet metal was requested. A cable for the side camera was not ordered until January 11. The dealer did not order a camera as recommended by Jayco (in October) until last week Friday.

Third, the dealer repeatedly tried having us pick up the RV while awaiting the camera but we refused because closing the invoice and opening a new one IMHO, would have terminated warranty repairs. The warranty expired on October 2.

I can understand your frustration. I have been chasing my front slide issue since I purchased my RV in June 2021. I had in in one repair shop for a month and a half and got absolutely nothing fixed. After waiting for 6 weeks to get into another repair shop the slide has scratched the floor. After it sat at that repair place for 2 months they adjusted the slide replaced the screw that was loose that scratched the floor and got the okay from Jayco to replace the floor. They ordered the floor and like everything else in this world no parts to be found. Took my RV home to go on a 6 week 1200 mile trip to Florida. The slide was quiet on the way to Florida but after using it a couple of times it was extremely noisy again on the way back home. Returned for my appointment on March 8th and was told the slide floor was backordered. The dealership gave me all the RO and PO numbers so I could call Jayco customer service to try to get a rush on the backorder. I was transferred to Jayco parts who said that the part was delivered in January. The repair shop took four days to locate the part. Now I'm waiting for a call to bring it in for the repair.

We had a similar problem: 7 months to repair. It took many letters and phone calls including contact with the Florida AG. I spoke to a technician at the dealership who told me that screws were missing in that ramp, it moved and buckled. The dealer gave me all the excuses he could think off but they knew what the problem was, it is common: 2021 37TS.

I have a similar issue. Time to take a class in slide out adjustment.

If you find one let me know. Now I understand why Jayco has a two year Warranty.

I have been using Slideout Slickers for over a year now and they work great.

Rustynuts do you have hardwood floors? I purchased a set and they look like they are for carpeting with the little nubs on them. I haven't tried them yet until I get this issue with my slide fixed.

We have about 12” of carpet in front of the slide and then vinyl flooring. I have read that if you don’t have any carpet, to trim the nubs off. The end of the slickers has a small lip on it and I just bump the slide in a couple inches and set the lip down under the slide and then bring the slide in.

Looks like it could be a DIY project.

My RV is in the shop right now and they are replacing my floor. Hopefully a strip like yours will be installed. Is that a one piece strip the full length of the slide?

No. I noticed they only put it in the area where the sheet metal was buckling again.

I am planning on getting a piece to go the full length and DIY the job.

It still looks like it is taking damage with all of those scratches…What is causing that?

Those scratches line up with these bolts.
