Seneca air brake pretrip

Does anyone run a full or abbreviated pretrip inspection and testing on their air brake system. If so what tests are you doing? Currently I️ only do it before a big trip and don’t do it everyday, am I️ exposing myself if I️ don’t do it daily or would that be overkill. I️ do do a visual inspection every time I️ move the unit each day.

Are you asking about the pre/post checks identified in the "Business Class M2 Drivers Manual chapter 11"? If so, yes mostly, I usually crawl with a flashlight under and around our rv before starting a trip to ensure everything is tidy. Including poking the moisture valves on the air tanks to see if any water is present. We always check the fluids under the hood and perform a light check whenever we move. As far as a brake test, I pump them a couple of times when leaving to ensure they stop the rv. Is there another brake test that I am missing?

There are about a dozen air brake pretrip items that are required for air brake test on a cdl. These consist of visibly inspecting all components, testing air pressure build up time, cut in and cut out of the unit. Pressure at which your alarms cut in and out. And pressure at which your e brake cut in. I have run through a few times but was wondering if this is something others are doing. Looking at videos on line on this subject certainly helped me understand how the brakes work.

Seneca air brake pretrip

If as your name indicates you reside in a northern state, you should definitely have an air drier plumbed into your compressed air system should you travel in freezing conditions. Also add heated release valves on each of your air tank drains.

I have the unit scheduled for the air dryer on Friday. Kind of difficult to convince them that the unit doesn’t have a dryer. They said they pulled up the vin and it says it has a dryer however I have not found one. I finally got them to order the parts without dragging it in for them to confirm what I told them.

Let us know what they say once they have your unit. I have looked at many Senecas and haven't found one yet!

Seneca air brake pretrip

Great, please share the details of mounting location, parts list, and (if willing to share) total out the door cost. What's their position on the need for heated moisture drain valves on the accumulator tanks?
