Seneca Convection Oven Vent Cover

How do you unlock the vent flap on the outside wall cover? Mine is stuck shut and can't figure out how to unlock it from the two tabs shown in the photo. Noticed it yesterday when cooking a turkey that the exhaust air was being forced back into the inside of the RV. Thanks!

My 2014's look the same, and when latched they are also a real pain to open. First time I tried I was certain they would break when I pried them down. But they didn't and it unlatched. It is still tight several years out now. Having 3 hands would help too, one pushing down on each latch and one to pull the flap open!

Ok got it, thanks. Not a great design if you're supposed to set up a ladder to manually latch it shut before traveling. I'll leave it open and see what critters make their way in.

I agree. I usually leave mine unlatched during camping season and lock it up when stored. I wish there was some sort of remote control function, I'll have to see what I can dream up or adapt!

We have never locked ours... and just deal with the occasional flapping when the wind is just the wrong direction. It is so much more convenient to just use the convection oven - as it requires that vent to run.

Here are the pictures of it when the vent is open and closed (not latched).

Same here. I decided I am not pulling out a ladder to latch/unlatch vent.

Holy Cow! I had no idea that vent had a latch system. The only time I have been near it is when thoroughly cleaning the unit. Can't imagine going to the trouble of latching it. the vent flapping hasn't been a factor in the 40K miles, so I think I'll just let it go as far as closing. However, I learn something new on the forum every day and that's another thing I'm thankful for.
