Seneca door strut fix
Need a new door strut for my 2018 Seneca.
Anyone have a link to a replacement online ?
I’d like to maintain the factory mounts on the door sill and bottom of the door.
I’d rather not have to order through the dealer from Jayco for a replacement.

I had to replace my TT door strut a couple years ago. Dealer recommended a 20 #, 20 inch unit. 20 pound is a little heavy in my opinion. I found lots on Amazon.
This is the one I used, the ends looked different than the OEM strut, but I was able to reuse my mounts. I would recommend measuring the length before ordering. To measure, extend the strut, measure center to center of the mounts.

Has your warranty expired? If not call Jayco and ask if they can send you a new strut under warranty.

Suspa is the major manufacturer of gas struts, among other dampers. I've always used them for bed lifts, truck cap window struts, and for the lid on the motorcycle utility trailer. You can buy them from Amazon, but they like to sell pairs, nd the prices are reasonable.
Or you can contact Suspa directly for information. I don't know if they sell to the public. but many places are retailers..

In a pinch... and you need it right away, you can use one of the struts on the outside TV door and put it on the entry door...
As Jagiven pointed out, the 20# struts are too strong compared to the original door strut. A 10# one is better (If you can find them)

Took off the strut and found the following markings.
Did some searching online and came up with this so I'll add it here for future reference.
LGP6-200-20QQ-15
Lavanture products
https://www.lavanture.com/pdfs/GasSp...logMar2010.pdf
Not sure what the QQ means...
LGP6-200
20.00 inches extended
12.00 inches compressed
8.00 inches of stroke
6 mm rod diameter
15 mm tube diameter
20 lbs of force
Now to find something like it on Amazon but I might try 10lbs of force.

Mine went out too. 2019 Seneca. This was the one I bought from the part number off the existing and it was an updated part #. Hope this helps.

I went with this 15lb option. The 20lb stock one felt heavy.
$16.60 and it's Prime delivery.

Just installed the new 15lb strut from Amazon. I like the 15lb, it’s perfect.
I think the 10lb would be too soft. We will see how this one holds up...
I did take the ends off the new strut (plastic) and put the old strut end fittings (metal) on to the new strut. The plastic ends were larger and caught the bottom of the door edge and rubbed a little bit.
The ends just simply unscrew, easy peasy swap.

Just ordered one for ours... I was tempted to order a 10# one too - for the days when there is no wind...

Post on bottom of door ripped out on windy day
Has anyone had to repair the post for the strut? Mine ripped out when the door got away from the DW yesterday in Tucson. Used a bungee cord in a pinch but need a more elegant solution when we get home.

Ours has developed the wobble... and will be needing the same thing soon... Same cause - Arizona winds!

If the mounting parts are like ours on our TT, they should be able to be repaired with nutserts. They come in various diameters and thread counts. Nutserts are installed in a hole with a tool similar to a pop rivet tool. Here's quite a variety of styles and kit sizes to look over.

I can not tell everyone how much I appreciate this forum. My house door started flopping. Checked the strut and it is leaking oil and not holding the door. Check the forums and find a 2 1/2 year old thread that answers my question.
My new door strut is on order.
