Seneca / M2 Generator Fuel question

Who has had their Onan QD generator shut down at the 1/4 tank level?

Or the better question - Who has not???

I had posted a couple of observations over the past few years where I am still quite unsure where our Generator pickup is - when they say that the fuel for the gen will shut off at 1/4 tank. We have had more than one experience with our fuel being so low that the fuel warning light has been on for miles, and the genny never shut down.

Our first time - We dry camped for 11 days at the shore of Flaming Gorge Res. Us and another couple in their 5er. We brought an extra 100 gallons of diesel in the bed of our friends TV. Our Gen was running from "making coffee time" to Campfire time - yes for 11 full days in a row. Daytime high was 103 and the low was in the 60's.

When we broke camp - the Seneca was still level, the fuel gauge was just above 1/4 and our first stop for fuel about 15 miles away. When we were on our way for fuel, the fuel gauge went to empty, warning light came on... then it went off and showed a quarter tank. The gauge went back and forth from empty to 1/8 - with every hill we climbed and descended.

The Generator never shut down when the fuel gauge showed empty - not even when we fueled up... we took about 63 gallons.

-------
On another trip, we were heading thru Louisiana and thought we could make it to our next fuel destination, but the Seneca gauge goes from 1/4 to empty in a very short distance. We had the low fuel warning light on again when we stopped for fuel that time - with the genny never shutting down for low fuel.

Now I read this thread https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...tml#post773786
and wonder what is really happening when they burned up the entire tank of fuel with the Genny... What is your experiences????
