Seneca Rear License Plate

Picked up my 2006 Seneca yesterday and so far am really impressed with the build quality on it. The previous owner had the license plate in the rear window since the spare tire covers the "normal" location.

I hate the look of it. What other options do I have?

The dealer said that the license plate has to be visible all the time, but when I have a bike rack on my truck you can't see the license plate. So, do other motorhome owners move their license plates or just have leave it there?

The spare tire was his add on. None of the KODIAK's came with spares so unless you undo the add on I don't think there is much you can do.

In addition to also being visible, I believe the license plate also has to be lit at night. Are there annual inspections in Texas? I know it's a requirement in NY and PA.

You can get fined for obscuring your plate.. even with a bike rack... govt has to be able to get its photo radar revenue

Well... Sounds like my "should we carry a spare or not" argument might be solved. Think I might relocate or leave the spare elsewhere.

If your good at doing some re-engineering this hoist is available.

http://www.tuf-tug.com/st.htm

I put it on our 08 35GS but I had to really rework the mount and then add an extension through the frame and into a utility compartment so the winch could be operated. It carries the tire just slightly above the height of the rear leveling jack pads so it doesn't drag. I may have some pics, if I find them I'll add them.

Amazon.com sells a license plate bracket WITH LIGHT, i wonder if you could mount that on the spare tire cover (if its fiberglass) or you could mount it somewhere on the rear of coach and run a wire to it for light just my two

Interesting ideas Kellys & Grumpy.

Might explore both of those and see what is involved to make that happen. Thanks for the input.
