Seneca winterizing PSA

1. buy 3-5 gallons of RV antifreeze
2. don't do on a cold, rainy day or in the dark!
3. get the short hose ready
4. take the rubber washer/screen out of the fresh water fill and turn it around and put back in place "screen in".
5. Attach the short hose to the fresh water fill and insert into the rv antifreeze
6. put the selector in winterize/sanitize
7. turn the pump on
8. I had to hold the RV container above the pump and occassionaly turn the switch to #1 and then back to #2 to get the pump to prime.
9. Go to each facet and run in the cold and hot positions until all you see is pink
10. run a short cycle in the washer until you see pink. Use the warm setting (that is both hot and cold).
11. Cancel the cycle and let it pump out
12. Clean everything up

Just a quick question? As the dealer winterized my unit the first time as part of the buy package I wish to try this my self this winter. On my unit do I remove the water filter housing and drain water then fill with rv antifreeze or does it bypass on this selection of the water valves (winterize/sanitize), thanks

The valves will not bypass the filter, the City Water inlet goes directly to/through the filter.

I am one who first blows out my system with air. Then I remove the filter, fill the housing with antifreeze, then screw the housing back on. Seems to speed the priming of the pump making adding the antifreeze to the system much easier.

Got her winterized

Thanks Rob, I built this adapter then set the air pressure to 25 psi and once I had air coming out of all the taps and systems, switched to rv anti freeze. The water valve's make this a pretty straight forward procedure. One hour of my time and 5 gallons of rv antifreeze is way cheaper than the dealer. All in all it seemed easier than my last unit.

And don't forget to purge and winterize the icemaker line!
