Tile backsplash

I want to add a tile backsplash on our 37 TS. Has anyone removed the brown fake tile behind the stove? Did it come off clean or did it tear up the wallboard? Also, do you think I can tile right over the wallboard?
Thanks and Happy new year.

Not sure about what you have behind the stove, but I went straight over the tan wall board that you have on the sides with Peel n Stick Smart Tiles from Amazon. Turn out great and holding up well. I cleaned the wall with TSP/Water solution then clear water and let dry. Amazon has a great selection if you want to consider.

Peel and stick is the way to go. Real tile and grout is risky with all the bouncing.

We tried the Peel and Stick tiles on the previous motorhome... One really hot day with the sun beating on the side of the motorhome.... Then the peel and stick adhesive got soft and the tiles started coming loose. i would recommend something with an adhesive that does not get impacted by warm temperatures.

No place (except maybe Death Valley) has hotter temps than here. I used this to help affix our peel-and-stick tile and they still are holding strong. https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/p...nadhesive.html

We never found it... I took the easy way out and purchased some stainless steel spice-racks along with some matching wall decor and screwed these items through the drooping/sliding/falling peel n stick tiles we called a back-splash and they screwed into the interior wall which kept them in place...

That solution lasted a few years, kept those tiles that wanted to relocate during summer in their place until we sold that MH when we bought the Seneca.

we have a 2017 Seneca 37 rb. i have added backsplash to my kitchen and the back wall in the rear bath. we did get the factory tile off with ease but the hard part was cleaning up the wall after, lots of glue but it did come off without damaging the wall. To put the tile on i use something found at Home Depot and Amazon. Sorry that I can't remember it's name. But what it is, is a sheet that's about 9x13 that has glue on both sides. Peal off one side to place it on your walls and when your ready for tile you peal off the other side and place the tile on it. We have not had any problems in over 20,000 miles with loose tiles or even cracked grout. I'll try and find it later for you tonight. AL

For the tile we choose genuine hand crafted, imported (from China) faux stick on tile from Amazon. I wanted real tile but lost the vote (like most things, I get a 49% voting block).
The panel came off without too much prying and a heat gun helped remove the adhesive left behind. Cutting the “tile” was relatively easy with a sharp razor knife. Placement and alignment was very easy and went real well, I had DW do it.
Overall we like the look over what we had. It feels like it should stay on but time will tell.

Thanks Steve. Joanne did most of it. But if it comes off the wall I did it. Lol.

Hope you and Stacy are well.

We used real mosaic tiles. We asked a specialist where we purchased our tile which mastic and grout would be the best for a motorhome. We've had it for over 3 years, have gone down countless roads and very bumpy back roads and have not had one single problem. We installed it behind the stove/microwave and behind the bedroom sink.

Prepping the wall is very critical and important for the Peel n Stick to hold. The TSP/water solution followed by clear water afterwards works really good. When hanging the tile, if you get one a little off on the alignment, it is heck to pull it loose, even just after sticking it.

We cleaned the walls very well using the recommended procedure. I applied metal self-stick back splash and it has worked out quite well. Bacon splashing and such wipe right off. It has been on 6 years now. It came with matching trim for around the edges.

That looks like exactly what I want for our 2020 Greyhawk. The plastic 'splash adjacent to the stove has rippled due to stovetop heat and possibly bad adhesive. Rather than have it repaired under warranty I've been considering doing just what you did. Do you recall what the product is called and where I might find it? I (maybe foolishly) hope that I could cut it to fit. Thanks.

When we buy a new unit one of the first things we do is have 1/16” clear lexan cut to fit the walls around the stove area. Then put it in place using velcro dots. It is easy to clean and if it gets really greasy it is simple to take out and wash.

We did similar metal tiles, which I trimmed to fit. Bought them from this outfit, which has a large variety: https://diydecorstore.com/product-ca...ksplash-tiles/

They were made by "Aspect". Each piece was 2 squares high by 3 squares wide. They were either silver or gold. Easy peasy installation. Measure carefully, use a strong metal straight edge and a box cutter with a new blade and with a fair sized cut, the panels will snap in 2 just by bending at the cut line.

The company sent me several patterns and colors as free samples so we could design our job and know just what to order. The moldings that came with it easily covered the cut lines.
