Tuning a gas cook top?

My wife is complaining about her pots getting black soot on them. Any suggestions as to getting better combustion?

My first thought on this... get a professional to inspect your entire Propane system, regulator and the Stove. A flame that is yellow or sooty is also a symptom of other problems - and Carbon Monoxide is a big concern with a yellow or sooty flame.
