water pump for filling fresh water tank

trying to find a 110v water pump to fill my fresh water tank pumping out of water jugs the pump i am using takes way to long because of that check valve or what ever it is where the city water connection goes, some people said to flip the screen around, i have heard you can damage that by doing it, i need something that has 70 psi that is what my city water at home is and it fills tank pretty fast, also need self priming because of stopping to empty out another jug it would loose prime, also around 5 to 7 gpm and last something for potable or freshwater. can't seem to find anything like that, got any ideas thanks

Harbor Freight... looks like they are on back order though.

Flipping the screen does not hurt anything. Did it for years and the dealers do too.

Amazon has a long list of what you might be looking for. Search and especially Google is your friend when looking for something.

I took an old 12 volt RV pump, rebuilt it, added electrical connections to connect to the battery, hose to go into a water can and then to the water feed on the rv and used that for years to fill while boon-docking.

That and a water bladder really works well. The bladder holds 30 gals.

How much water do you plan to transfer at a time? When it is time I tend to only transfer about 5-15 gallons a day.

It is a little slow, but I use the onboard pump. As it is transferring, it is breaktime

Have do done an Amazon Search "potable water pump 120v". I found a few.

I use one similar to this one to descale my tankless water heater at home

I have lots of tools that use the Ryobi One+ 18-volt batteries; a number of which I carry with me when traveling for on-the-road repairs. I also purchased a One+ transfer pump that I use to pump in antifreeze and sanitizing solution, and also to refill freshwater from jugs.

It also has a 120-volt AC adapter allowing you to forego the battery if needed.

Works more effectively and quickly than using the onboard pump.

I’ve carried jugs and used the suction pump for years. I finally bought a 120v pump 2 years ago to do it like you described.
Of course I haven’t had to refill in the last two years and still haven’t used the pump.
I’m ready though. Lol.

Being I have all Milwaukee cordless tools and carry some in my Seneca, their transfer pump was my choice, it works great.

The few times I've dry camped I carried 3- 5 gallon water jugs, a 110 submersible pump I had at the house to drain a pool and a 5 gallon bucket. I would put the pump in the bucket then poor water from the 5 gallon jugs into the bucket and pump the water into the camper that way. Sounds like a lot to carry but it went pretty fast.

I only pump it once using 7 of the 7 gallon water jugs , so 49 gallon roughly, takes forever

Haha.
If we were camping next to each other, we would be like twins doing the exact same thing.
I have 7 jugs as well. And it roughly takes forever.
And I stand there ready to swap the hose into the next jug.

If you use your FW tank for drinking water, you need a pump that is drinking water safe. These transfer pumps like Ryobi are not safe for drinking water. Amazon has 120v RV pumps that will pump out a 5gal jug in 90 seconds. I made up a system for my rig because it requires a pressurized system to fill the FW tank.

A buddy of mine swears by home brew transfer pumps.

I just the 12v Harbor Freight transfer pump. It's only transfers at about 2-2.5gpm, so it takes a while for my 60g water bladder. But it works well enough.

Hmm,

I'm fairly sure my Greyhawk 30 already has the plumbing arranged so you can use the installed water pump. Set the valve knobs to "Country Fill". The shore power hose goes in the water source and it pumps into the fresh water tank. There is an on/off water pump switch to control it.

I've never needed to try it, I will next time just to check.

Most newer rvs do have that feature, it’s just a very slow process if you need a lot of water. A transfer pump is about the same as hooking up to a hose.

Do you have a wet bay with a manifold/controls ? If so, Why don’t you flip your manifold to winterize and draw the water in your tank that way?

You’re missing the point of the thread.
We can do it that way, but it’s really slow. To speed up the process the OP wants to use a 120v pump like a few of us have to refill the water tank quickly using jugs or a bladder.
