Which TPMS?

I am looking to get a TPMS which seems simple on the face of it....

The front wheels seem straight forward but the rear duals do not.

Freightliner had a recal which as I understand it called for the removal of the inner dually valve extenders. My unit does appear to have had that done. You really have to search for those inner valve stems.

Then the outer wheel valves point inwards which makes it almost impossible to screw any sensor on them.

What do others use and what about pass through vs screw on?

TireMinder or something else?

Thanks for your help.

We have the tireminder system. Each spring, I have them send me the free replacement batteries, O-rings and I purchase replacement caps. Since I have to remove the units completely, and adjust the air pressure a minor bit - I just crawl and reach between the tires and remove the unit, adjust the air and replace the batteries all at once.

Like SloPoke I also have the TireMinder system which has served me well for years. And like he mentioned you can reach in between the duals to access the outer tire's sensor. I can get the inside similarly but I have a tool that makes the inside sensor even easier. It is just a piece of old broomstick about 14" long with a short piece of 3/4" heater hose slipped over the end. You stick the end of that heater hose over the sensor and spin it off. Likewise to replace it you stick the sender in the end and use the stick to guide and spin it on.

My attached picture shows the tool with a sensor ready to reinstall.

Easy peasy!

I put a TST system on my Northpoint 5er. My DRW truck doesnt have any TPMS on it but that was one thing I've been considering and I considered when I purchased my TST system. It's an expandable system to include my truck. They were designed for tractor trailers so they can accommodate MANY sensors. I got the band style sensors. They have to break the tire bead off one side and mount the strap sensors to the inside of the wheel. This way you dont have to mess around with valve stems.
One of these days I'll get around to purchasing more sensors for the front singles and rear duals on my truck.

I have Tireminder but I don't have a fancy tool to take them off lol.

I get up in between to adjust pressures..I just attended an education session that they did at the annual rally and learned lots!
So far so good!
