Most of the auto parts stores that I have been in have blades. NAPA has about everything or check on-line.

And Amazon has about everything.

Most places I have checked, you have to buy the whole assembly, not just the refill blade.

Centerville, Ohio? Refills are available from: O'Reily's, Autozone, Adavance, Costco, BJ's, NAPA, CarQuest, Goodyear Tire Centers, and so on. They may have to bring them from the 'warehouse', but that's a one day thing worst case.

even Home Depot...... https://www.homedepot.com/b/Automoti...vZc8nsZ1z18xst

But, why? The blade mechanism is also a wear part. Even winter blades with the thin rubber blade cover don't last a year.

Some vehicles, like the Lexus for instance, and many others have custom holders that either cannot be or the owner would not want to replace with some generic wiper.

Too bad.. my Mercedes doesn't throw a fit when I put blades on it whether they are Michelin, Trico, Goodyear, etc. Lexus is a Toyota....I'm not sure your point is coming through.

Good for your Mercedes and the point is not all wiper blades, much like some other auto parts are the same. Pretty simple point. The casement for the Lexus has a design that you cannot buy at the local auto parts. You can replace the insert but not the entire part with a generic.

So I think your point moot.

And just as a side note I took the Lexus in to one of the local generic, Chinese auto parts stores some time back and they could not supply a replacement. I did the same thing with the BMW a few years before. Same results. Again, you can replace the rubber wiper but not the encasement.
