I did with my 5th wheel. It likely won't run any AC units for long, (big amp draw), and possibly not all of your outlets.
I bought a Sensata 2400 watt low frequency pure sine wave inverter after a el-cheapo unit failed. It can be hard wired but I did not. Instead I got a heavy 12GA 3 conductor cord, installed a heavy duty male plug on one end for the inverter, and wired into 3 of the 4 conductors in the generator prep box. If I remember correctly I used a red taped wire from the prep box for the hot wire, so it's only feeding 1 leg which runs most everything except the second AC and a few outlets. My transfer switch senses the power when applied and connects as it should.
BUT, make sure your water heater's 120v breaker and your converter's 120v breakers are off, you don't want your inverter trying to power those! I don't use A/C either, just too much for my system.
A bonus is that I can plug into a standard extension cord instead of dragging out the 50A cord which is handy for trip packing and cooling refrigerator down.
