Unless it is a folding bed I would suggest a Zinus. Our 20 inch Zinus has been with us for 5 years and we liked it so much we got one for our winter place and master bedroom. 12 inch is cushier but harder to make up and weights more. 10 inch worked out fine.

Note buying from Zinus direct may be no more expensive and may (not sure, never sent one back) than Amazon or other after market.

Lots of posts on many aftermarket makers that may fit your needs for as much as you want to spend $$$$ but Zinus works and was in our budget.
ps I don't work for Zinus , just like mine.

Zinus sells a "short queen" size which is a perfect match for my jayco short queen size bed. What are you looking for?

WE bought a custom size from Mattress insider. we wanted it 4 inches wider to "fill the gap" and also bought their custom sheets. We like it some much we bought the same mattress in king for our home. 1k price but my sleeping is worth every penny

Is this a bunk bed for kids. 5 feet 5 inches by 49 is a very odd size.
As an example, a short queen is 60 wide and 75 long. Which is just enough for me at 5-ll(71 inches).

This is really, really a personal issue. What works for me will likely not work for you. My back will not take what someone else tells me is great for them.

Canyon Adventure Vans (canyonadventurevans.com) has custom mattresses for Camper Vans to include the Jayco Terrain. They are not inexpensive or fast to deliver, but ratings are high.
