1/2 Ton 2018 26RK

Does anyone have the new 26RK and pulling with a 1/2 ton? I have a 2016 F150 Ecoboost with max tow package. I currently have a 2016 25BHS White Hawk and it pulls good but I’m not sure if I want to go any heavier. Although it will be only 6-700lbs I know it will make a difference.

My trailer was rear ended last weekend and I just found out it will most likely be totaled out cause it twisted the frame. Now back in the market for a trailer.

Any input would be greatly appreciated also input on the trailer itself. Pros and cons

I have a 2017 F150 3.5 Eco, Screw, 6.5 bed, Max tow. My TT is a 2017 29RKS. We just finished a 2500 mile trip and the truck performed like a champ. CAT showed I was about 100 lbs over on payload... but that's fixable. Although much of the trip was on interstates, I did not find the 18-wheelers to cause my any significant white knuckles. One travel day was particularly windy, and that was not fun. If I had a "do over" I would have gone with an F250, But overall I'm happy with the rig. I am going to upgrade my hitch to a ProPride though.

Since both are WhiteHawks, their heights are basically the same and the total weight will be up a few hundred pounds, I doubt you will really notice it pulling any different.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune with your rig!

I've been towing my Eagle 266RKS with my 2011 F-150 Ecoboost for 4 years now, and I'm very happy with it. My truck is virtually identical to yours, but you probably have the newer, beefed up Ecoboost - which generates even more horsepower & torque than mine. If your trailer weight is properly distributed and your WD Hitch is properly set up, you shouldn't have any problem. That being said, keep an eye on your total payload. That's where 1/2 ton truck generally run into problems.

Good luck with your new rig, and Happy Camping!

Total Weight isn't the biggest factor with modern half tons in my experience. Tongue weight is the real issue, and overall length (or sail area) can be a consideration. Sounds like these two trailers are about the same length, so that's no problem.

So, once you have the trailer, take it to the CAT scales and verify your tongue weight, move loads around the trailer to modify that until you are happy, and THEN adjust your WDH to put weight back on the steering axle.

Thanks for the feedback. Why is the ProPride so good? Does it really help that much?

The ProPride and Hensley hitches eliminate the feeling Moesh talked about a few posts up. The push from tractor trailers and the gusts of wind from the side no longer cause any sort of white knuckle experience. My wife will ask as we are driving (if she is on her phone) if it's windy out as we can hear the noise. I have to look in the tree tops to see if it is.She used to get really concerned with cross winds as I was always fighting them. Now, towing with the 3/4 ton, I really don't feel any wind.
