12V DC Power Issues Unique

The solution was incorrect wiring my the manufacturer (Jayco) on the assembly line or one of the previous owners altered the wiring in the junction box.

The battery was not connected to the converter at all. The truck was directly wired to the converter hence why the truck was providing power to the trailer in addition to the 110V.

Jayco will still not provide wiring diagrams for the 12V system so I was wondering if anyone had a schematic to rewire the junction box?
Can you take a picture of the wiring on the front of the trailer that shows the shortstop fuses and how they are wired? Could you also share a pic of your converter with cover removed (four screws)?

Here’s the inside of my junction box. The negative goes to this junction box, with nothing else connected to the negative on the battery, no negative return from the converter (no loop).Click image for larger version

I solved my problem, the negative wire from battery had a ring terminal that was crimped to the sheathing and not to the actual wires.

That was a good catch on your part. The simplest of errors can make for such a hassle trying to figure them out. Did that look like a bad crimp from the factory? Thanks for the update post.

It was definitely a bad crimp at the factory, glad I was able to resolve - only took a few hours. Haha oh well. So glad it’s fixed now, waiting on the solar panel to arrive next week to open a slew of new issues!

It's great the mystery is solved. Have fun with your solar project, I hope it goes smoothly without a hitch. We don't use solar...except for sun tanning! Lol!
