174BH TV Antenna

Hello!

Just got my 174BH and am enjoying learning all about this fun little camper as well as all the mods people are doing. I just mounted a TV to the wall and was wondering about the digital antenna that the TT is equipped with. The instruction manual is of little if any help when it comes to this. Is it the black shard fin looking thing on the roof? Is there power run to it? Does the coax connection under the 12V DC tv power feed directly to it? any info would be helpful, thanks!

It is the ray looking thing on your roof. It does feed to the coax cable by the sink. There is a button on that outlet that turns on the amplifier. It's best to find the forward direction of the antenna and then mark it on the turn knob as it's not marked and you never know where to turn it to face a tower. There are many apps that will find tower locations so you can point the antenna that way and run a scan. Mine seems to work fairly well and I can often get enough channels that I can keep up with the news.

Thanks for the post. I saw in the manual that there is a knob to turn to adjust its direction, but I can't find that anywhere in the camper.

On the ceiling by the bathroom door

It appears I don't have one, I think I might have a crappier, omni-directional antenna. Oh well, I'll test it out in the next week or so.

Do you have a pic of the antenna?

My guess is that that's not an antenna

It’s raining out, but will try to post later. The only other things up there, however, is the AC unit and the vents do not sure what else it could be.

Looks like an over sized antenna on a car. Perhaps a new design for RV antennas

I've seen a post stating it was a non directional antenna made by Steiner. The poster didn't seem to have any luck locating information either.

Not the best pics, but you can see what’s on the roof.

This.

The antenna is omnidirectional and will have about a 30m radius. If you're wanting to get channels and are away from radio towers when you camp, consider upgrading to to a better antenna you can aim.

I'm not an antenna expert by any means, but a quick google search says Winegard Sensar IV is the best.

We have the 2021 174bh Baja model and the tv antenna (shark fin) is omni-directional with the connection and power source located above the counter space.
A question I have is, is the radio antenna connected to the fin?
My radio has terrible reception.

There is a discussion on this antenna on the second page of this form the title of it is hdtv antenna. Walks you through on how to replace it and how it’s junk. Doesn’t pick up much for tv or radio signal unless your close to towers. They started using them end of 2019 and up. Everyone who has one basically has the same complaints.

Hmm, first I've seen of these. Thanks to the OP for going the extra mile and getting the roof pics!
