1998 jayco eagle 264bh

Hi,
New here and I have a question.

I have a 2015 dodge ram 1500 tradesmen single cab 3.6l truck and was wondering will it be enough to tow a 1998 jayco eagle 264bh ?

Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, We have a 2019 Jayco Jay Flight 264BH and the overall specs are similar to your trailer. We pull our unit with a 2020 F150 3.5L with EcoBoost and our truck is more than enough to pull our trailer wherever we want to go.

I suspect your Ram 1500 truck with 3.6L is more than capable to tow your 1998 Jayco Eagle 264BH.

My only experience with the 3.6 is in a 2019 promaster with a reading aluminum contractor body and a 6 speed auto. It won't pull itself at 70 in 6th unless it is flat ground. On a daily bassis the tach climbs over 6000 rpm. Compared to the gmc vans I have been driving for 30 years, it's a dog. Remember my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it. Ps, the above poster has a turbo on his little engine.
I pull my jayflight 264bh with a old 01 superduty 4x4 w/ 7.3ps, and just got a tuner for the tow setting. 60 hp the easy way. Cross winds do move my heavy old truck around. I do understand the newer half tons are rated to do as much or more thad my old 250, but being lighter I suspect the cross winds would affect a lighter truck differently. Plus a engine that small, I also suspect you will have to spin the wee out of it when not on flat ground.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!

Our F150's have twin turbos that kick in around 1700 rpm's. Higher torque rating than our last 5.7L Tundra, which did tow fine, but not as good as our F150 (IMHO).

You may be fine with your 3.6L, but it's a little light on torque at 269 pound-feet, to get you over some bigger hills. Just a thought per the specs I saw.
