1st time towing a JayFlight 27BHS

We have a new 2016 27BHS that we towed to Galveston for a weekend shakedown. We tow with a 2007 F150 SuperCrew (150" WB)... The truck has a 1640 lb. cargo rating and a 7800 lb max tow rating. (18" wheels) The base weigh of the trailer is 6250 lbs. I was concerned that the trailer was too much for the truck, but it actually did very well. Or at least better than I expected. I set the cruise on 62mph and held 2500 RPM all the way to the beach.. I can tell that the tongue is a little light from the wiggle that I was getting, but otherwise it pulled quite well I thought... Now, having said all this, we will be towing along the Gulf Coast on most trips. IF we were going to Colorado or other mountain states I am sure I would want more truck. Just saying !!

I will load more stuff into the front of the trailer and then get it weighed, and let you know the results when I can get that done.

I'm assuming you have the 5.4 Triton? What rear end gear ratio do you have, and also is it a 4spd tranny?

Yes, 5.4L Triton,, 300hp and 365 lb. ft. torque, with 3:55 diff.... It is rated for 8400 lb. tow rating, minus the 500 lbs. for the 18" wheels ....Forgot to mention that the trailer performed well. The only thing I need to correct is the LED light above the bathroom sink is too high for my wife to reach it. If I can figure out how it is attached I am going to lower it 3 or 4 inches so she doesn't have to jump up to turn it on... Very happy with the trailer so far. It sat out in the horrendous flooding we had in Houston last week and we had "0" leaks... YEA !!!
