2 AC's

I have a 2021 Feather 27RL, it came with 1 AC. The salesman pushed for me to get a 2nd as we are in TX but said no. I got the camper in Sept 2020 and didnt notice any issues when we used it. (Its still very hot in Sept) I have read that many say you need 2 in TX .

Camper is prewired so my question is for those that added on, do you have a 15K and a 13.5K or both 15K. I currently have a 15K

Is your rig wired for 50a?

It will always be less expensive to get the 2nd one with the new rig if it's wired for it. If you survived the summer without it, maybe they were wrong?

My 2017 Greyhawk, which is 30 amp, either came with a single 15k unit or two 11k units. So glad I have the dual units.

He is talking travel trailer. I may be wrong but I have never seen a TT with the Energy management System that the Greyhawk uses to share the load and limit to 30a.

Just looked up 27RL specs on the Jayco site and 50a is a option if adding a 2nd AC.

Since it is 50 amp I would go big with two 15k units since you live in a potentially hot area. Yeah an air conditioner should be sized for the area it covers so they say. That is so it doesn't short cycle. I personally go with increased capacity and don't care about short cycles. Just my opinion.

That's pure hogwash! I lived in the DFW area for years and you only need two ACs 359 days of the year.

There are about six days when you can survive with one.
Not in a row - but they are there.

Yes, IMO, you should go with 2 units as big as the circuits will carry. Living/camping in S. TX most of my life, and 2 ACs are now a requirement for my campers.

We started with a 28BHBE that was wired for 2nd AC, and we managed to get by that way with a single 15K unit. But adding the 2nd unit was a requirement if we decided to keep that rig. And 2 ACs was a requirement if we decided to replace it.

ETA: But good luck actually finding one to install. Not long ago you couldn't find them, so unless supply has caught up, they're pretty hard to come by.

My rig came with 2 - 15K Coleman Mach III and although I don't live in Texas, they come in handy very often even in the sunny South Carolina!

Even if you need only one, you have a choice which one. We run the bedroom unit often to make the living area much quieter.

Need Two

I have a 2020 Jayflight 28BHBE and live in South Texas. I am extremely happy my rig came with two AC units. One in living room (15K) and the other in bedroom which is a 13.5K. You will need them between March and Sept. in Texas. It will be a great investment.
