Hi! I just bought one in great shape, the toilet has never been used! The previous owners always took it to a campground with facilities.

Anyway, I searched the site and can't find any info about this camper here. Mostly I want to know about things to watch out for, typical leak spots, known problems, things of that nature. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

if the toilet hasn't been used in 17-18 years, I'd definitely look to see if the toilet still holds water. Unused stuff like this the seals dry out and crack. Not a big deal to replace potty valves and seals, but just be aware. Buying an older trailer is going to be a matter of looking and testing all the mechanicals , water, electric. You've probably done the roof, tires, wheel bearings, water test for leaks etc.

FrontierCBJ,

Welcome to JOF

As mentioned, check all mechanical, electric connections (12V & 120V), and plumbing.

Also check for any signs of outer wall surface delimitation, this would represent moisture intrusion within the outer bonded wall panel layers. Also check interior walls/ceiling for surface 'dimpling', also a sign of moisture intrusion.

Jayco during the model years of 2004 into 2007 had issues with some of the roof/wall joints in conjunction with the TPO roofing material (been there, done that w/2005 Eagle). Insure sealant integrity along the roof gutter rails, and front cap/rear wall joints @ roof.

Thank you for the replies! Will do.

I have done nothing as of yet, as I towed it home only two days ago. When the weather gets warmer my wife and I will do a camping trip in our driveway and put all the systems to the test

Wise decision

Just food for thought............ At some point during your 'driveway' camping you will want to flush out the HWH and sanitize the plumbing system.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! Congratulation on the Jayco!

Camp Driveway is the best place for the first trip. A pad and pen to make a list of wants and needs is a good idea.
