2015 Jayco 23RB Electric Tongue hand crank workaraound?
In the event of the electric tongue or battery not working, I have a hand crack. I can not figure out fort he life of me how to manually crank the tongue and I feel this is something that I should know and be aware of. I always like to have a Plan B in place.
Can anyone suggest a resolution?

I picked up My new 254 today and was told if the electric tongue didn't work to pop off a black tab on top of It for the manual crank.

Told the same thing. Pop the round top piece off and insert the hand crank.

I was told the same, i tried it when my battery died, the wrench is notched, but the bolt under the grommet is not, nothing to grab so no up or down movement.

Wrong crank? I would suggest a cover for the motor. Friend's jack quit working and couldn't turn with the crank. Found gearbox full of water and corroded gears. Top plug leaked. I used folding chair bag (heavy canvas type fabric) on mine. Have read a big-box store bucket works well also (clip safety chains to the handle to keep it in place).

Wow, I haven't even tried my manual crank tool. Thanks to this thread, I am gonna make sure I have the right tool.
Mine also has a black rubber plug on the top.

If you have the wrong crank handle (I've heard of these walking off while the trailer sits at the dealer) or it doesn't work for some reason, try a deep socket with an extension on your ratchet. I forget what size socket mine takes, but I know it works.
Edit: if your jack has the useless button level instead of the rubber plug, it's a 1/4 turn and pull it off. I also highly recommend a cover (I use a trash can) as these jacks are known for taking on water.

Thanks for the tips on the jack. definatley will start using the bucket. Mine iss the rubber plug type. My rig is a 2013 and the black plug is very "Carbony" if thats a word. the plug itself sheds a very fine carbon like black dust and its very messy. Anybody else run into this? Is there a good aftermarket plug that would replace it? also the jack when running is bit of a screamer! Is this normal?

Good idea on the bucket. No only is the rubber plug not weather tight, the two-part case has quite the weak seam...

After taking the black plug out the handle goes on like a socket and turns left or right in turn making the stand go up or down. Just making sure you're not trying to use it like a jack handle. The 30 amp fuse is easy to blow on these and I've had to do this a couple of times.

On the Jet 3500 from Stromberg-Carlson the socket is 3/4 (19 mm) same as your Leveling Jacks.

Sounds like I might just replace mine with a good old fashioned hand crank. KISS.

Ours failed last year right before a trip. I used a breaker bar and I think a 5/8" socket. I used it that way while waiting to take it for warranty. When I was hooking up to head to the dealer for replacement that nut broke. Luckily the jack was high enough to clear the road. I use a 5 gallon bucket to cover the new one, held in place with the safety chains. There was a lot of water in the bad jack when it was removed.

Whoa, that's no good! That's the first I've heard of the manual function failing like that. That's kind of scary. Makes me wish I could just replace mine now, but DW says "not 'till it fails" ...

Same thing happened to us. Couldn't unhook, so we opened it up took out the gear to the motor. I guess water leaked into the motor and locked it up. Once the motor gear was out we could use our handle to crank it up and down. Dealer replaced it under warranty but now we are going to keep it covered.
