We are towing a 28bhbe elite (all options put us around 7200# delivered) with an Expedition that can tow 9200#. With 4 kids and stuff, we feel like we are at capacity.

That aside, my sister and dear brother in law bought a TV with a capacity of 6000# (but in Europe is rated for 7500# - he is an idiot) and a TT that was dry weight of 5790# convinced they could tow it. They went on a long vacation around the country and the hitch actually broke twice, dropping their trailer in the middle of no where both times (makes for an expensive tow truck bill!). We tried to tell him it was the tongue weight the first time and he was adamant he was fine and refused to listen to us and instead blamed the invisi-hitch dealer. After the 2nd time, he is now having to trade in a damaged trailer for something smaller after only owning it for 6 months. Plus I am sure he damaged the uni-body frame of his brand new TV he bought to tow the brand new TT. On the bright side, he didn't kill (or even hurt) anyone. I had been scared all summer!

jillntim, you are probably at max or above your vehicle rating as well. The max tongue load rating is only 920lbs, compared to half ton trucks at 1400-1500lbs. FYI- I have a 1/2 ton truck and my system works fine as well. I'm not here to bash anyone. I do have air bags in the springs of our RAM. Manufacturers always under rate vehicles. If not, they would have a lot of people towing right to the max of the true load and towing from Florida to Alaska. Accidents would happen a lot more! They also worry about pot holes, high winds, and everything else. Be smart and drive safely no matter what you pull with. I can tell you, I see large trucks going way over the speed limit and tire speed ratings. Yes, lawyers will have a field day with you also!
