2017 28BHBE Shakedown accomplished

My wife, daughter and I finally got the new trailer out for its shakedown this weekend.

Overall we are very pleased with everything. We did not encounter any issues that require intervention from the dealer for warranty work. Overall so far the quality of the Jayco brand has lived up to its reputation for us.

One issue I need to do is replace the bathroom facuet as others have noted in the forum. The facuet sits so far back you can not get your hands underneath it to wash them.

We upgraded from a 2013 26BH to the 2017 28BHBE We were quite amazed how much bigger the trailer feels when you have a slide. Even the dog felt more relaxed with the extra space. She did not have to worry about her tail or paws being stepped on.

We also went from a 26BH to the 28BHBE and love the extra room! Congrats on the first run!

That's the trailer I wanted but with only a 1500 Truck it was a little too much unfortunately

We love the layout in the 28BHBE! Good luck with yours and of course change out that silly faucet in the bathroom. Enjoy !

SkiingViking,
We did find out during the shakedown the bathroom faucet is worthless. Replacing the faucet has moved up on my list of mods/customizations to the top.

Thoughts on pulling it with an F-150 XLT 5.0L V8?

Xocab,
If you get an F150 with the max payload and the right gear axle ratio you might be okay. My cousin just blew the turbos, timing chain and cam sensors pulling a comparable weight trailer with his F150 echo boost max tow.

I bet there are some folks out there towing the same trailer (28BHBE) with an F150 who can provide better info on towing.

I wouldn't. It's 3/4 ton territory.

Glad your first outing went well. I picked up our 2017 28BHBE in May and have 5 trips with it. It has been problem free. Very happy with the upgrade from our previous camper.

Cold fusion, there's lots of posts about this trailer and 1/2 tons. Several of us did it w/ 1/2 tons and then upgraded to 3/4-1 tons. It can be done, but it's a heavy trailer. I towed it w/ a 1500 Burb w/ towing package in 103 deg heat from NC to Fla w/ no problems. I just wanted a more stable platform and I wanted to tow up and down the NC mountains. I now have a Tradesman CCSB CTD 2500.

Yes I know a half ton will tow it. I'm just saying I would want a 3/4 ton with that trailer. Anyone who tows it with a half ton I would bet they are over the trucks payload rating that's all I meant.

Too many people worry about towing with a 1500.

I also have a 2017 28BHBE. I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 5.7L to tow with. It has the 3.55 gears.

With proper WDH setup, it tows great! Has plenty of power too.
