2017 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 245RLSW

Hello,
We checked out the 245RLSW recently at the local dealer and liked a lot of what we saw. The large shower and kitchen counter space were huge positives, but the trailer seemed to be lacking in storage space (closets/cabinets). Anyone have any opinions or experience regarding this model? Thanks!

Too bad there wasn't the same model in a Jay Flight. The SLX's are lighter and cheaper but you give up cabinets, storage and better appliances. What about looking at the Whitehawk line? They have a 27DSRL which has a similar layout. It will be quite a bit more money up front but should have much more storage inside.

Next question is what tow vehicle do you have? Are you limited by that or budget?

We looked at this model seriously last fall, but went with the 24rbs instead.
The floorplan seemed more open with moving the bathroom to the rear and being able to see from dining area thru bedroom.
I can always change out couch for recliners at some point.

We also looked at the 245RLSW but decided to go with the 24RBS. If the 245RLSW was available with the Jay Flight options, we might have gone that way instead. Both are very nice floor plans for "empty nesters" like us.

Doug, I thought about the possibility of replacing the couch with recliners or theater seating as well, but I believe (may be mistaken) that the furnace is located under the couch in the 24RBS?

Thanks for the replies. We currently tow a Puma 25RS, and are pretty happy with it other than the bathroom/shower space. We were just looking at Jayco models the other day at a local dealer closer to home, so I'm kind of new to the Jayco scene. To answer your questions, I tow with a Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, so most of the Jaycos I was looking at would be fine weight-wise. However, we do have a rather tight budget, so some of the trailers (Whitehawk, etc..) are out. I do like the 24RBS that someone mentioned, but we prefer a larger shower.

Obviously, with the lighter/cheaper SLX models, storage space is going to be limited if we want the larger shower. Thanks for the input..we'll keep looking, as there's no hurry.

We looked long and hard at that model and really liked it, but the lack of storage space kept coming up so we ended up getting a white hawk.

Jayco does have that same floor plan available in the Jay feather line though. I think the model number is 23RLSW.

If you can wait and save up a little more money, I would seriously look at the Jay Flight line. In most models you get a full sized queen bed, 2 fresh water tanks for around 80 gallons capacity, porcelain toilet and generally more interior storage with much better cabinets. You also get an 8 cu ft fridge where the SLX's only get a 6 cu ft refer.

Also remember you can generally get around 25% - 35% off MSRP just by negotiating.

I own a 245RLSW and there's plenty of storage. There's only 2 things I want to add and that is a medicine cabinet and shelves in the pantry. Would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have. I bought this model because of the floor plan.

Don't give up on the White Hawks till you get a best price (30% of MSRP), we really love ours.
