2019 287bhs to be or not to be, that is the question.

Hello everyone, We are considering purchasing a 2019 SLX 287bhs as an upgrade from the camper we currently have. Is there any guidance you could provide in reference to this model. We have 4 children so the bunkhouse model was needed. We are new to Jayco and this trailer seems to fit the bill, but wonder if anyone has heard of recurrent issues that are red flags. I don't really have extensive experience with campers so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

We have a 2016 26bhs jayfloght. It’s the same trailer with some upgrades. We love it. The only thing that bugs me sometimes is the bathroom/sink layout. I wish the vanity was in the bathroom. Albeit it’s nice sometimes to be able to use it while someone is in the shower. It just makes it tight for both. Other than that we love it.

It’s nice being able to access everything with the slide in.

I have this trailer from 2016 and have had no issues whatsoever other than the temperature knob likes to fall down from the ceiling

Thanks for your reply and sorry for all the questions, but what kind of hitch stabilizer bars do you have? I am new to all of this and want to make sure I am making the right choices so we have fun and are safe.

Thanks

I've got the 750lb bars from an older/lighter trailer and this one just squeaks in under 750 with all our junk err I mean camping essentials loaded up so i would go with the 1000lb bars if I had to buy it again

I have a 2017 287bhsw that I tow with a 2016 GMC 3500HD long bed crew cab 10,000 Equalizer hitch. We have 2.5 seasons on it now. I love the floor plan. The camper overall has been great. Mine has the 15,000 btu AC ducted. Minor issues that I took care of because I didn't buy local. Nothing that would make me not buy the floor plan again. What I would suggest is looking at the 28BHBE and compare the cost and what you get for the upgrade. Little things that you don't notice until using the camper are: plugs in the kids bunk area, top bunk has a small vent window (can get a little warm without ac up there), vanity in the bathroom, shower door instead of a curtain and a ladder for the roof. Plus a few up little things like tv and radio install or upgrades. I am also not sure if the BHBE comes ready for a rear hitch. The BHSW did not. Great for bikes especially since you have 4 kids. I made one work on my camper but lots of work and may void the warranty if they want to be picky. Also in the large wardrobe near the fridge I added shelves for even more storage. Not sure if the suspension is any different in the BHBE also. Just my 2 cents and if I were to do it again I think I'd lean towards the BHBE.

Just bought one. Will post if anything is up with this unit. We parked it at the campground. Opening weekend will be 4/26/19. No issues yet. Have two 11th graders and me and the wife. Parked in driveway for a few weeks. Furnace works wonderfully. TV Antenna brought in about 20 channels. No problems so far.

Thanks for the information. I pulled the trigger and bought one as well. I have been very happy with it so far.

My hot water heater dies on the 3rd weekend in the trailer. Had to have a Tech come to the campsite and replace the mother board on the water heater. Several blogs talking about NEW Jayco water heaters dying after a couple of times out.
