2020 330rsts, Ball Height

We have a 330rsts coming off the line in a few days, the Jayco info shows a ball height of 28 1/4 inches. All of my previous trailers were closer to 21-22". This 28" seems awful high to me. Does anyone with a 330rsts remember their installed height?
I am setting up a new 16k equalizer hitch and would like to be ready when I pick our new eagle up.
Thanks in advance

Hi djensen

I have a 330 rsts and it is definitely higher. We are towing with a 2500 Ram which was 3” higher than my 1500 Ram. So when I picked up the 2020 in September I was wondering about adjustments as well. There was virtually none it was perfect. My hitch is a blue ox sway pro. The dealership set it up with 1500# bars which I immediately switched to to 2000# bars. Both trailer and truck ride and pull well. The only additional adjustment was to put a set of rear Sumo springs on the truck.

We love the 2020 330 rsts

My ball height was at 27 inches when we went to pick up our 2020 330rsts. It was pretty close to level (if anything slightly to low). It's winter here in Indiana....so I haven't played with it since bringing the unit home.

Thanks for the info, slightly low is the best, you probably aren't to far from my unit as it is supposed to come off the line on the 29th of this month. Our granddaughter just moved to Indianapolis from Reno so she is getting to see your winter first hand. I went to Army school at Ft Benj Harrison many years ago.

Yeah, we live 50 miles from the Jayco campus. Pretty convenient if we need anything done.

I picked mine up in November and was surprised at how high the hitch height was. I have a GMC 2500 Diesel with a 6” lift on 35’s and it is pretty much inline with my receiver. I also installed a set of airbags and am using the 1600/16000 weight distribution hitch. Only have towed it about 500 miles so far but the setup has worked great.

If I remember correctly, even our 2017 330RSTS with the 16" tire upgrade (pre Goodyear), ended up with ~ 29" ball height using our Blue Ox Sway Pro hitch.

That fits in with the 28 1/4 Jayco has on the website, just seemed high as all my previous trailers were in the 22 ish range. I have the 1600,16000 equalizer hitch and it is sitting at 28", if the weather clears and the can deliver trailer I will find out-thanks again for the input

Many are that tall/high. My 2018 324BHTS requires the ball high enough on my truck the tailgate hits the dang thing when opened....gotta be careful of that.

Hitch height

I just measured mine 3 MAR while getting its first renewal state inspection. Sitting level unhitched on the jacks the top exterior of the ball was 30 1/2 inches from level concrete pad.

I also use the Blue Ox Swaypro and had to buy a different head per Blue Ox instructions as my previous trailer had the hitch welded to the bottom of the A frame. My 330 has the hitch welded to the top accounting for a drastic change in the number of chain links hanging when hooked up. Dealer didn't realize the difference and "made it work". I survived the pull home and was shocked at the height difference not observed on dealer lot.

2009 Chevy 2500 crew cab 4WD rides at 28 1/2 inches with trailer very slightly nose low. I have only one more hole to raise the hitch 1 more inch but then the nose would pull high.

I'm still mulling this setup over to avoid tailgate/trailer contact when lowering the tailgate. This leaves me with two complete hitches now as I had to order the new head and then got the longer shank so plenty of stuff to mess with.

In order to safely release the chains, I must jack the hitch up to 32 1/2 to avoid the sudden snap back of the wrench.

I want to thank everyone for their help, finally got my trailer home Monday (lots of snow and ice between Indiana and Oregon). The 28 1/4 ball height worked ok, so far the only thing I have found on the trailer is a missing fireplace remote everything else is working fantastic. We got the booth dinette and love it,very roomy and no pole in the way underneath. Again, thank you all
