2020 Jay Flight 28BHS Fridge Not working

Hi all,

Just bought a new trailer and went to cool it down today and only the freezer is cold. The fridge doesn’t seem to be working at all.

It’s a Norcold fridge.

The trailer is sitting somewhat level in my driveway but it’s been extremely hot here in southeastern Ontario for the past while. Regardless it’s not even turning on other than the freezer.

Any advice.

Let it run overnight and see what the fridge and freezer are doing. They are both cooled by a single cooling mechanism.

Are you on shore power or propane?

I have the same problem in my 2020 324BDS. When we are prepping for a trip I have to run it on gas. The freezer will freeze bottles of water and the fridge barely gets cool of any at all. When I hook up to 30 or 50 amp it works fine, but not at home on a 15 or 20 amp.

I have the 2019 and had the same problem here in Arizona. Had to start running the AC to cool off the trailer inside in order for the fridge to cool down. It takes a few days here. Freezer always cooled right away.

We don't have Arizona heat in NY but we've run the frig (Norcold) in 90 degree weather and the freezer is 10F or lower and the frig 40F or lower. This is in a 28RLS so the set-up in the placement of the frig may different.

One thing to check is unobstructed airflow over the coils at the rear of the refrigerator. Some people put a small fan in that area to help the backside of the frig airflow. We run a tiny fan near the bottom of the frig compartment which helps circular cold air in that compartment. You also don't want to pack the items tightly in the frig which hinders air circulation.

The frig does have to be level to work most efficiently. We have seen no difference in cooling running on electric or propane. It does take a good 8 hours or so to get the frig compartment into the 40's. Ideally you want to get the frig cold and put food that is already cold in the frig. If you put a significant amount of warm food in the frig the temperature is going to rise and take some time to drop again.
