I made a slide topper support before I had any issues with my topper pooling. I only install my support during extended stay camping, or when nasty wind/rain is forecasted on the short trips.
I assume it can be more common for 'pooling' on the longer slides for obvious reasons, but a topper not properly adjusted can also produce pooling and/or flapping in high winds.

NOTE: My Post #133 doesn't show the foam self-seal pipe insulation I added later (shown in pics below). The foam insulation protected the topper material from the PVC pipe T's edges. I used zip-ties to hold the foam insulation in place.
