2022 SLX 212QB mods

My wife surprised me a few months ago with a brand new 2022 SLX 212QB, of course I had to pick it up from the dealer after work at a moments notice which was a little hectic but I got it home. I pull it with a 2012 Silverado 4X4. We've camped in it at least once a month for the past 7 months, our last trip to Inks Lake resulted in my water supply hose freezing up leaving us without water in the morning, i just swapped another hose and good as new. We will be spending a week in Bolivar in the next couple of days.
I just wanted to show some mods I've done to the camper so far (What warranty!!!) I installed $800 Furrion cameras on the sides and back (they only work when they want to….thanks Furrion) i installed a swing arm tv mount, I changed out the square cabinet handles to curved ones so now we don't scratch the crap out of our legs with them, I removed toilet paper holder from door (bad location Jayco) we just keep the toilet paper in the small cubby in the cabinet, I also installed a towel bar in the bathroom, removed the towel ring, and installed a paper towel dispenser instead. I also fixed the goofy bathroom sink top and cabinet for you Jayco, you can thank me later. There will be more mods to come for sure in the future, I'm probably looking at demoing the dinette and putting a couple of comfy chairs and a small round table, we don't need the dinette anyway, its to small for Sasquatch sized people and the way it converts to a bed is laughable….its for Smurfs!!! Besides, we spend the majority of our time outside like normal camping people do. We also got a Montana Hybrid rv mattress that cost us an arm and a leg, we have yet to try it out. We got rid of the mattress it came with, it was horrible! Even with the addition of a $300 topper!! I really like this camper, it tows nicely and is a lot more comfortable and spacious than our 2010 Trailmanor 2619 we sold last year. It just right for the wife and I and small enough to where its not a burden to maneuver and store. Attached are some pics.

Nice work! What were the “goofy sink top and cabinet” issues? What did you do — can’t tell from the pix unless it’s different faucets…?

I basically shrank the cabinet and top by two inches and got rid of the whoopdedoo curve the vanity top had, it gives us a little more room for getting out of the shower, still a little cramped though but good enough. We don't boondock so the bathroom gets minimal use, just at night, wherever we go there are restrooms and showers if we ever need them. I attached some stock pics from the internet of what the vanity looked like before.

Of course, now I see it. Yep, ours is identical to the top photo. That’s a lot of work — well done.

That is awesome, very nice work. I was considering doing the exact same thing, was it a real pain to do. Were you able to pull out and reuse the edge trim?

On a scale of 1-10 i would consider it an 8. I was able to reuse edging its just glued into a groove. It helps if you have tools and a little carpentry experience, a good multitool is essential for this project. Being a contortionist worthy of a spotlight show at Barnum and Bailey’s Circus is also a plus.

Thanks for the reply, I may just go after this mod. Busted a gut laughing at the contortionist comment, with some of the mods I’ve done so far, I know all too well what you mean.
Again, nice work.
Dave

I didn't like the way the dinette tabletop stuck out narrowing the walking area between it and the sofa. I cut 3" off the tabletop, wish I would have cut 4" off. My wife walks with a cane so a little extra room helps.

We replaced the stationary table legs with foldup legs so you can move the table to get in and out of the dinette. Or if just one person is using the bench they can push the table more toward the other side. It also makes it much easier to access the storage under the bench seats. We had a popup with a movable table for years and I really hated the stationary table the 212 came with. I also like the idea of replacing the whole thing, but my DH is not ready for that yet.

After much deliberation, I decided to go for the vanity cabinet mod, very pleased with the end result. Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow! You guys are impressive! I don’t think I have the nerve (or skill) to tackle this one. Looks fantastic.
