20BH Furnace Servicing

I've already had my first outing this year and found the furnace wouldn't come on. I suspect the problem is the high limit or the sail switch, but can't figure out how to get into the furnace. It's located under the futon, but there must be an easier way to access, right? Need some suggestions.

Hey jgeist - Welcome to the forums! Glad you found us, lots of good folks here that are glad to help!

What make/model/year do you have? I assume you are not under warranty?

When you say it will not come on - does the blower come on or does it do nothing? If nothing, then not sure it is the sail or limit switch. How about the thermostat? Have you tested it?

At least on mine, if I fold down the sofa part way, I can then pull up the front panel and have a lot more room to get to the furnace.

I have a 2007. The blower comes on, but it sounds like when the electric heat is enabled, the blower shuts down. I have tested the stat. Thanks.

Ok - At this point I would recommend pulling up the Service Manual (If you dont have it, check my manual library link in my signature). It has the startup sequence in there and it could help you figure out at which point it is failing. It also has some troubleshooting and diagnostic steps if you are comfortable with a multimeter. From what you describe, it could be just about anything from the circuit board to what you have referenced above.

Hope that helps. As you know more, post it here and we will see if we can get this figured out.

I'm not an electrical guy, so I have to ask..., could it be lacking LP?
