24 FBS Second Trip

Well, we are on our second shakedown trip with our new 24 FBS. After all the problems we had, see thread http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22849 it had gone smoothly. No problems with anything. Now I'm making a list of Mods I want to do next spring. One thing I do notice, with the stabilizers down, the trailer still shakes, not as much as if they were up. Does anybody have any ideas or gadgets they use to keep the trailer still. In addition to the stabilizers, I am also using the X-Chocks.

Middle front and back or middle on the sides?

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

I put locking stabilizer braces on opposing corner jacks and they made a huge difference. I also use x-chocks.

THS, I'm interested in something like that as well because I have side to side shake. It looks as though when bolted to the frame they would stick out sideways when retracted. Is that true?, and how did you overcome that if possible.

See this post. I had to weld mine on an angle as they were 30 inch. With 24 inch you should be able to just bolt.

I may have to look at the 30 in as well. My trailer sits somewhat high, and at 9200lbs loaded, the extra weight rating would be nice if that's the case. I'll have to go look under the camper to see if there's a frame cross member close to the front of the tires. Maybe bolt on at an angle, half on main frame and half on cross member? Thanks for the link.

They will all bolt on if you don't mind reaching under RV to get impact wrench on them. Just position in line with frame.

Hey Couple--Jeff here. I had the same issue with the rocking when we first got our 24FBS. Have done a few things but I try to remember that it's a TT, not a house on a foundation. First I read on this forum that blocking under your 4 scissors jack will help so I always put 4-5 of those plastic leveling thingees under each jack and under the hitch too. That helped but not enough. Then I put on the X-Chocks which didn't do much for rocking but I think it's harder for the TT to roll down the hill if I have a senior moment while hitching/unhitching. Next I bought 2 retracting stabilizer bars and put one on front driver's corner and one on back curb side. That helps some more. Now I also put a platform under the 3 steps so the bounce is eliminated when you use the steps. All in all I am pretty satisfied with about 90-95% of the bouncing gone. The suggestion for 2 more centered scissor jacks sounds interesting....I'll have to think about that until next spring.
Let us know how things work out for you and Happy RVing.
Jeff
