25BHS under bunk storage access mod

My solution is to just tie a length of line through the lift hole and let a loop hang out from under the mattress a few inches. That way, when I want to access it, I don't have to lift up the mattress, I just lift the rope and the whole thing pops open. Too simple?

I was think of opening it up and changing the hinge location to look like the Grand Design Imagine 2800bh (see photo below). I would have to install a false floor to cover the plumbing line. would like to hear what others think about this idea or any foreseeable challenges.

That looks like a very nice solution. I may have to have a look at our 28BHS this weekend while dewinterizing and see if I can do something like that.

I like this! Instead of having a false floor due to the wiring and pipes that run across the opening I would probably just keep it that way so it would act as a small wall to keep stuff from sliding forward. Can remove the panel trim it out and add the netting. Then when camping can remove the net for easy access to whatever I want to use the space for. Right now I use it for dirty laundry but now I may slide camping chairs and whatever is easy to pull out. Don't want to have small stuff that will just get lost in there.

At least on my 25BH I have the water lines as well as drain lines that run through there. Also I wouldn't be able to go all the way to the back wall. My water heater is there so not sure how much storage I would gain for the amount of work.

I have a new 25BH and been looking at this as one of my potential first mods. My first thought was to add a cabinet door as I already did a similar mod on my old Rockwood. If anyone went the door route, where did you get the door and how much was it. Opening up the area with a net might also be a good idea if sourcing a door is too expensive.

If anyone can post pictures, that would be awesome!

Is the paneling that you cutout for the door curved or flat? Mine is curved so I can't envision how to put a flat door in a curved surface.

I got the door from my dealer, for the door, hinges and handle(which I did not install for fear of it putting a hole in my bathroom door) I think I was in for roughly $60.

I ended up measuring every cabinet door in the trailer to figure out what size to go with for the amount of space I had, the bathroom vanity door ended up being very close to the amount of room I had to work with. I then went to my dealer and simply ordered it. It is much easier to go this route than trying to have something custom made. I may have the part number saved in an email, I will check. Could be useful if you have the exact trailer as me. Mine is a 2016 jay feather 26BHSW.

In my trailer it is flat, a curve would present a whole different set of challenges. If I was in that situation I might have used a net like in one of the posts above or possibly ordered a curtain that matched the other in the trailer.
