29RLDS? Rear camera help

We have a 2019 20RLDS that is rear camera ready. Well, after hooking up the camera, there is no power getting to the rear camera. Jayco keeps saying there should be a switch in the front cabinet. No switch. They even sent me the schematics, which haven't helped.

Does anyone else have a 29RLDS and get their camera to work??

Thanks

Most times you need to have TV hooked up, at least the 7 pin plug and then turn on the TV's running lights/headlights for the backup/observation cameras to get power and function.

Thanks jimp. We've tried that and every combination Jayco suggested, but no go. Jayco says there is a switch that bypasses the TV so you can use your camera as a "monitor" and plug it into the 12v plug in the bedroom, which doesn't work either. Jayco keeps saying there is a switch, but we can't find it anywhere.

Guess Jayco needs to tell you where the switch is then. Does your rear camera work while going down the road???

The one on our 5er needs to have at least the marker lights on to run the camera. No lights no camera.

No. We've tried every combination possible. Never gets power.

I second that. Running lights must be on.

What model/brand rear camera do you have? Have you tested the connection points on the rear wall where the camera attaches??

I found when installing my Furrion camera the plug was a little difficult to get a good seating into the camera. Have you ensured that the plug is all the way in, I had to put quite a bit of force into it.

I have a 28RLS and a camera powered by the prewired set-up for the Furrion system (Yuwei rear observation system). The trailer running lights have to be on to get power to the camera. If your trailer running lights are on then there should be power to the camera.

I don't know what camera system you have but with the system I have (can support multiple cameras) the camera and monitor have to be synced.

That was my thought as well. I put a tester on the plug, which showed no power.

So the running lights on the trailer are on but you're getting no power to the connection for the camera. Is that correct?

Every prewired installation I've read about has the power to the camera via the running lights (no additional switch). If this is a unique circumstance where it is wired through a separate switch then I'm not sure how you resolve it if you can't find the switch other than running a separate line from the running lights directly to the camera.

Update

2edgesword, that is correct. Running lights on, no power to the camera plug.

I've attached the schematics sent by Jayco.

I did find an orange wire and a black/white wire dead ended behind the com panel where all the switches and tank monitors are. I'm going to check these wires and add a switch to see if that does anything.

Based on the schematic power is supplied by the tow vehicle directly to the trailer running lights (marker lights) and camera. The switch would be a customer installed option with the customer installing the switch as an alternate means of bringing power to the camera.

BTW, they mention a purple wire behind a bedroom wall ceiling light switch so customer can add an on/off switch to power the camera. Power to that wire is either directly from the battery or converter.

This is all interesting now. Wonder why Jayco has changed to this? My 2017 Jayco North Point 377 RLBH has the Voyager rear camera system. It was wired to have continuous power and mattered not if the running lights were on or not. However, it gets it power straight from the house batteries, but is fused. We shorted a rear USB outlet (when it got yanked out and tried to snap it back in) and caused the rear overhead reading lights along with mid bunkhouse led lights to go out. Hooked up to leave and no rear camera. All was on same 15a 12v fuse. So, check your fuse box 12v fuses if haven’t done so already.

That's exactly what I took away from that. My feeling is that they never connected the wiring to the marker light. I may have to rewire myself unless I can them to do it under warranty.

Rear Camera

We have a North Point that has an extra wire ran to each camera and was taped up behind control panel. These are to switch power to cameras from switch in rv and not from plug in to truck. If the wire from rear is purple that is what it is for.
