29RLDS slide question

I was just wondering, if the big slide doesn't close with the motor, how can you close it manually? Also how about the small bedroom closet slide?

Slide

Ditto on that. Manual or Jayco or the S/O Instruction that should have come with your paperwork package.

I think all slide mechanisms have a provision to manually retract except the Schwintek (sp?) which has a "Manual Override" feature. The little slide on our X23B had a "nut" next to the motor which was behind a wood panel under the sofa and required a ratchet/socket. The 2 big slides on the 351 have "hatches" in the belly covering to access the retract motors and a ratchet/ socket is required. The bedroom slide is the Schwintek and if the motor goes south and the slide is out, I guess I'm toast.
My owner's wasn't too helpful in locating the manual retract in either TT. I went hunting for it on the X23B out of curiosity and had to hunt it down on the 351 out of necessity. The motors on our big slides are just inside the frame on the side opposite the slide and like I said I get to them from underneath.

Thanks Redhorse for the help. I looked in the owners manual and that wasn't much help. It showed a couple different knids of slides and I have no idea which one I have. It showed a nut to turn but didn't tell where it is. Guess I wil have to do llike you did and explore things. I will check under the couch, maybe I will get lucky and find it there.

Good luck Joe! My owners had a picture of the manual shaft coming thru the frame. Guess what, mine ain't like that at all. I don't recall the X23B manual saying anything at all about manually operating the slide. Tech during PDI said he didn't think it had one. It did. I'd have to say the owner's was no help whatsoever. The new(ish) 5th has a nice "water control center" that isn't documented either. Oh well, good thing I like figuring stuff out.

On our 33RLDS we have the thermal package. Under all 3 slides you can see a section of thermal cover just screwed on. Take that little section off and you should see where to do it manually..

We have a 2005 Jayco designer with two slides and we cannot locate the manual mechanism for the slide out. Can you help us locate iT?

On our 33RLDS there is a short shaft sticking out on the rear of slide motor. Its the shaft with the ring pin thru it between the motor and the short shaft. Put a socket (5/8 I think) on the end of the shaft and use a ratchet to retract the slide. As you probably know already, the motor for the curbside slide is near the frame on the roadside and vise versa. Mine has an access panel for each motor about 18"x18" that you remove and will give you plenty of room to work with. Hope this helps.
