312BDS fridge and traveling options - something not working right

I have searched and read many posts about leaving the fridge on propane or auto when traveling ~ seems to be a personal preference.

My question is when flipping to propane, the fridge clicks and the light just blinks. I ensure the propane is on and the stove works. Is there a pilot somewhere I need to light? I asssume it was sefl lighting?

My other question is can the newer fridges be run on 12V from the vehical connection?

I'll continue to look though my manuals.......

I am 99% sure your model has a Norcold refrigerator that is a 2-way. It can run on 110VAC or propane. Not 12VDC. When the 110VAC source is lost and the "AUTO" mode is selected the unit will open the propane valve and light itself. There is no "pilot light". When 110VAC is restored it will go back to electric operation.

Your description sounds like you may still have some air in the line. The manual for the refrigerator will give you details on what the blinking light means.

Light one of the stove burners to purge the line of any air. Works every time for me.

Hi, quick question traveling, vehicle hooked up towing, my dealer says the norcold fridge (new TT) will only operate under tow on propane. The auto mode is for shorepower/propane swithover when needed. Also says the 12volt vehicle power only sends power to the indicator lights and refrigerator circuit board, not the cooling unit.

I guess the fridge does not operate on an inverter for travel. Am I thinking correct?

I am new to the tow scene and appreciate any thoughts.

Correct.

No inverter. When traveling the refrigerator uses propane to cool and 12V for the control.

Hi, I have been reading your replies on the Norcold refrig. We recently purchased a 2003 used Jayco Eagle with the Norcold refrig. The refrig will run good for awhile on auto, then maybe when you get up in the am, there will be a"S" in the display window. The dealership told my husband to go outside and unplug something's and replug it....it dd work, but continued to do the same thing. We have it permanently parked in ky and had to leave to come back home to Fl., so guess we will have to deal with it when we go back. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? Thanks

The only thing I could find was a code "S" is for a Flame sense circuit failure.

Try shutting off the fridge and turning it on several times.. turn it on let it click when it stops and the light starts to blink turn off the fridge and turn it back on again.. this will purge any air in the propane line to the fridge..
