32bhds 08' Teach Me!

Super excited to have just bought our first travel trailer. We will be living in it full time. Some weekend trips but mostly parked at an RV park while we buy land and build a home. I bought our travel trailer from its original owner. It's been mostly parked for the last 2 years and has the original tires on it. I need to get it road ready to go from Indiana to Hood County Texas, 800 miles. Insights and suggestions appreciated!

Our family consists of myself, my husband and boys that are 14 and 6.

Thank you!

If you have the original tires on an 08 that is the first thing you need. I don't care if the tread looks good. 9 year old trailer tires are not safe.

Also you need to pack and inspect the wheel bearings and trailer brakes.

X2. Farnik is dead on...make tires (to include spare) and bearings a priority. And put some thought into the tires - get something at a higher load range and better quality than whatever they put on there in '08. Worth it in the long run. Also get the trailer inspected and make sure all running gear and lights are in good working order.

An inexpensive tire pressure monitor system is also well worth the enhanced safety and peace of mind, as is a rear view camera. Lastly, make sure the WD
Hitch is appropriately sized and in good shape.

Lastly, spend time here - lots of experienced people who have collectively seen and done it all. It's like finding money and will save you tons of anxiety or aggravation.

Good luck and enjoy!
