6 volt batteries

I just bought two 6V batteries from costco to replace the 12V battery that came with my 26BH.
They seem to be very heavy and I am concerned as to which way to install them.
Should I install them side by side or one in front of each other?

if you have the room side by side is better.. if you dont then fit them in how ever you can..

Side by side. Just remember to wire them in series.

Side-by-side is preferred due to the width between the angle iron support members welded to the A-frame for holding the garden variety 12V deep-cycle battery. In other words, you may be able to insert a battery box between the two angle iron supports, so side-by-side is preferred. Otherwise, as Seann indicated, any way you can get them to fit will be fine.

Have you given any thought to a battery box? You'll need something different than your current battery holder. See here for just one example of a battery box that holds two 6V batteries -- http://www.allbatterysalesandservice...cfm/4,576.html.

If this is of any interest, I use an appropriately weight-sized nylon rope to insert and remove the batteries.

Finally, give some consideration to whether the new battery weight (on the A-frame) has any affect on your towing set-up.

I also bought an electric tongue jack. Does it hook up the same with 6v battery or is there something different I should do or know?

You'll be connecting your two 6 volt batteries in series. If you look at Rustic Eagles pic of his batteries, you can see he has a silver colored battery cable connecting to the upper left post on the left battery. That cable is tucked and comes back up to connect to the upper left post on the right battery. That silver cable is connected to the (-) negative post on the left battery, and on the (+) positive post on the right battery. The two 6 volts now make a 12 volt system. The left battery, lower right terminal is his (+) positive feed to the TT and the right battery, lower right post is his (-) feed to the ground of his TT.
