6 volt battery box

So I picked up 2- 6 volt Batteries. What tray do you recommend using to put them in the front rails of a travel trailer? Or should I say where the 12 volt battery is located.

It would help if you posted the model and year of your RV to get best answers. I have seen aluminum boxes purposed to keep the batteries in and keep thieves out. Otherwise, look at the dimensions and look for two plastic ones that fit.

Look on the search bar for 6 volt battery box via search to see what others have used.

2011 eagle super lite 284bhs. My only fear of single boxes is the strain on post that are connected together while driving.

This is a popular one for 6v batteries:

Century Plastics GCE-G

I have this box on my ORV with a pair of Trojan T-125's. There are two sets of dimensions listed on the page - check the dimensions of the base only with the battery rails on your trailer.

My Trojan T-105's fit in a normal 12 volt box. The Trojans are taller and the lids do not quite fit right. I built my own box after a short time.

Our 2021 whitehawk RL had a group 31 12 volt battery. I wanted 2 batteries. At pickup up after some after market items were installed the owner of the rv company told me 2 Group 31 batteries could not fit where the batteries are behind the Propane bottles So at his expense 2 6 volt batteries were installed but the handles of the battery boxes on one side had to be cut off to fit the space. I did not want 6 volt batteries but he was so excited to up grade our system for us I didn't complain to him as he is a very nice man.

2 group 27 batteries would have done the job for us. chevman

IMO not an issue.

I've used the same two single 6V batteries/two boxes on my prior Eagle and present Jay Flight without incident over the last 10 years. Each 6V battery weighs 60 pounds-plus and the two boxes fit snug within the TT A-frame.

I like the two-box set-up because I remove my batteries between trips making removal a little more manageable (TT in public storage).

Original 2005 Eagle installation: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...de-2752-4.html

In my present 2018 Jay Flight installation the box finger handles are a little closure together due to the difference in the A-frame opening dimension, so I just rotated one of the box covers.

I would never connect anything with a taut cable or wire. You need to allow for vibration, heat expansion and cooling. And something really important - when it comes time to replace the posts may not be exactly the same distance apart.

X2

In my case I incorporated a small cable loop as shown in the referenced thread 'link' in my post.
