7 pole Plug replacement

As I am driving, my electric brake loses its "c" that tells me it is connected. But then it will come back on. Sometimes I don't have electric brakes (I can feel the difference) and sometimes I do. When I look at the plug that comes from the trailer, some of the connectors are green (too damp?) and some of them only have one side of a two part connector. It looks like I need to replace the plug. The receptor is clean, so it seems to be okay.

How difficult is it to replace the plug?

Yup, it time to replace it now. Green is corrosion, and half gone contacts are worse. Intermittent connections, and probably some arching at the contacts.
To answer your question, no, it's not hard to replace. A new one can be had at any good auto parts store, or RV dealer. The schematic for the correct wiring to the new plug is on this forum, and probably with the plug instructions.
You'll need wire cutters/strippers, a sharp knife, electrical tape, even liquid electrical "tape" would be nice. Also get a tube of dielectric grease. squeeze some in the connection recesses, and you won't get the "greenies" again. Just don't choke when you see the price of the grease. It's fairly expensive, but a tube will last you a long time. Mine is going on 12 years old.

A good site to check-in is ETRAILER.com... Has excellent diagrams and replacements for everything TRAILER including the Electric Brakes the RV's are using...

A great place to familiarize yourself with Electric Brakes requirements etc...

Nice folks to do business with...
