A/C shroud removal
2015 Jayco 267BH with a Coleman Mach 3 A/C.
I need to clean the coils, and couldn't get the plastic shroud apart...
It's a two piece shroud that splits in the middle somehow... I didn't want to break it so i stopped...
I see where it should unclip...
Is there an easy way to separate the front and back halves?
The A/C won't kick into cool mode when turned to cool... it did when I bought it (used) but now wont.
I'm hoping it's just dirty fins... the previous owner must of lived in a dust bowl cause they are dusty... hoping a good cleaning will fix it...
Possibly a new control box... wouldn't mind a thermostat on the wall... jayco ran a wire it looks like.
For now I just need to get the shroud off.

4 screws on top of shroud, lift whole shroud assembly. Sometimes takes a little finagling. Should come off in one big piece. Then just remove intake sheet metal and evap coil is exposed.

Or, you could just drive it under a low hanging power line like I did after last year’s hurricane and let nature(and foolishness) do the work for you...

If you grab all the way under the front and pull forward / up a little, it’ll help. There are two tabs on the front of the AC the shroud kind of snaps over.

Hard to see, but look at the very lower left of the picture on the AC. You can barely see the tab sticking out. There’s one on each side (front left / front right).

If it turns out to not just be dirty... What else can I try?
The thing is only 2-3 years old, and aside from grungy looking fins on the cooling side, is it possible the control box is short?
Seems like the control box has a small copper wire that comes out that goes into the cooling fins... Is it safe to heat that up to trick it into cooling mode?
Not with a flame, just some heat?
If I want to move to a wall mounted thermostat and get away from the control knobs?

Thanks all, got it off and cleaned.
Still have the same issue. I'm going to try and adjust the temp knob, saw a YouTube video on it.

That wire is the anti-icing thermistor. If you want to add a wall thermostat that usually requires a new control box too.

I found the parts to convert it... but it's nearly 300 bucks for the grill, box and wall tstat...
Hoping I can adjust the temp knob settings for now.
