okay so I may just be dumb, but im confused. I had a flat on my 2014 jayflight while it was stored. took the tire off, np had it repaired. but when I went to put it back on the nuts seemed to want to either spin or not fit. they have the metal covers on them, one of which I cracked.
so I went to buy a new tire iron to keep just for the trailer. it says 1/2 inch on the nut, but I couldn't find a tire iron for that size?.. the salesman at Canadian tire said oh that's just the size of the cover....
im confused because I bought what he told me to and once nut I was able to tighten but the rest it wouldn't fit on?? btw he sold me 13/16 th ?
I suspect your Jayflight is similar to my 5th wheel in that the wheel lugs have a 1/2 " thread size and the lug nuts need a 13/16 " socket to spin off/on.

Nut size always refers to the size of the bolt or stud it attaches to - not the size of wrench or socket you would use on it. Same as bolt size refers to diameter of the threaded section of the bolt, not the head.
I suspect your Jayflight is similar to my 5th wheel in that the wheel lugs have a 1/2 " thread size and the lug nuts need a 13/16 " socket to spin off/on.

Just to agree and disagree with some of the above, The stud diameter would be 1/2", the tread pitch will be either 13 or 20(I think) depending if it is a coarse or fine thread stud. The socket size to fit it sounds like it will be 13/16th but the metric equivalent of 21mm will also work.(7/8th is equivalent to 22mm) If you use the wrong size socket(too loose) you will damage the chrome cap that covers the nuts.
I've found that a "deep" socket works much better than a standard socket or a tire iron. Also, don't forget to check your Jayco manual for the proper torque setting. You don't want to just "crank 'em down hard"!

Brownie: Thanks for your deep socket advice. I was about to buy a socket for my torque wrench and would have probably just bought a standard socket. Now, all I need to know is what size socket to buy. Seems from this thread that there are differing sizes of lug nuts. I have a 2015 23RB somewhere along the assembly line at the moment and cannot check for myself. Anyone within this forum know the proper size for certain?
